With such natural disinfectants, keep your home spick-and-span and that is just at a fraction of the cost of those harsh chemical cleaners.
How To Make A Natural Disinfectant
1. Vinegar-Based Disinfectant Spray
Material Required
- White vinegar
- Water
- Essential oil (of your choice)
- Glass spray bottle
What All You Need To Do
- In a glass bottle, add vinegar and water in the ratio of 1:1.
- Now, add 7-8 drops of essential oil and check if you are ok with the scent else add a few more drops.
- Give the bottle a good shake and the natural disinfectant is ready to use.
If you are making disinfectant for the kitchen then, you can go for the lemon essential oil to neutralize a strong kitchen smell. For neutralizing bathroom odours, you can try Tea tree oil and for your bedroom or living area, you can try milder smelling essential oils such as chamomile or vanilla. It is recommended to use glass bottles as essential oils can sometimes react with plastic.

2. Vinegar-Based Disinfectant Wipes
Next, on the list to make a natural disinfectant is vinegar-based wipes.
What All You Need To Do
- You need to follow the same recipe that I have shared above.
- The only difference is that instead of adding the ingredients into a glass spray bottle, you need to put them in a large glass jar.
- Swirl the ingredients to combine.
- Now, cut 10-15 pieces of cotton cloth in square shape and put them into the jar so that they are fully soaked with the mixture.
- Make sure to lid the jar and keep it in a cupboard.
- Whenever you need to use these wipes, just squeeze them a little to remove the excess mixture and use it to wipe the surfaces clean.

3. Baking Soda & Vinegar Spray
Material Required
- 2 tablespoons baking soda
- ¼ cup white vinegar
- 4 cups hot water
- Lemon
- Essential oil(of your choice)
- Glass spray bottle
- Clean glass bowl
What All You Need To Do
In a clean glass bowl, add hot water and vinegar. Now, add baking soda into the bowl and mix until the baking soda dissolves. Cut the lemon in half and pour the juice into the above solution. You can also add the rinds of lemon into the mixture. Let the mixture cool down and then add 3-4 drops of essential oil. Now, strain the solution through a sieve so as to remove lemon rinds, pulp or seeds and then transfer it into a spray bottle.

How To Use Disinfectant Spray?
- The first thing you need to do before disinfecting any surface is to remove dirt or any other buildup on the surface.
- Give the bottle containing the disinfectant a good shake so as to mix all the ingredients well so that the spray will be effective.
- Holding the bottle at an arm’s length from the surface, spray the disinfectant thoroughly.
- Let the disinfectant stay for about 10 minutes so that it can attach effectively to the surface and can eliminate germs.
