Purplle has recently launched two more in-house makeup products. These are mascaras: one is volumizing and the other one is curl extender lash mascara. In this post, I will be talking about the former one.

Purplle Through Thick and Thin Volumizing Mascara comes in a glossy black coloured plastic cylindrical tube. The tube is sleek and will not add any bulk to your makeup pouch. At the bottom of the tube is mentioned the name, shelf life and quantity. The mascara itself comes encased in a classic Purplle cardboard box with all the product-related details mentioned on it.

My Experience With Purplle Through Thick and Thin Volumizing Mascara

While placing an order for the mascara, I saw the image of the mascara wand on purplle’s website and it looked a little tilted. However, when I received it, I found it straight and stiff. Now, to get voluminous, fat and fluffy lashes, it is important for the brush to be thick with denser bristles. However, with purplle volumizing mascara, it is not the case. It is quite thin and the bristles are not dense to pick up the right amount of the product. I use the tip of the wand to reach the inner corners of my eye but the tip of this mascara accumulates a lot of product making coating in the inner corners difficult. However, this issue can be resolved by wiping off the excess product on the rim of the tube before starting with the application.

Purplle Through Thick and Thin Volumizing Mascara has a thick and buildable formula that doesn’t clump. Make sure to go for two coatings only and that too when the first coat is still a bit wet to avoid it getting flaky. The mascara is jet black in colour and will suit all Indian skin tones pretty well. Talking about the efficacy of the product, it does help in giving nice length to the lashes but doesn’t add enough volume.

Staying Power

I am a blogger and I sit in front of the computer for several hours and so, I have the habit of rubbing my eyes. I applied mascara in the morning before leaving for my office and after 2-3 hours when I rubbed my eyes, the mascara just spread all around my eyes. The mascara is not smudge-proof and it will transfer to your finger if you touch your eyelashes. When this happened, I immediately went to the washroom to wipe it off and thought to wash my face. The moment I splashed water on my face, I could see the mascara bleeding. So, the end result is that the mascara is not smudge-proof and transfer-proof and is not water-proof as well. I stay in Mumbai and I cannot use this mascara during monsoon season. I hope you can understand what I am trying to convey….

So, as far as I am concerned, I am not at all impressed with Purplle Through Thick and Thin Volumizing Mascara as it doesn’t add volume to the lashes that it claims to do and is not smudge-proof, transfer proof and water-proof. I cannot comment on its staying power as after this incident, I didn’t apply it again. I am hoping that the other mascara which is Purplle curl extender lash mascara stands up to its claims. Keeping my fingers crossed.
